Canon A Winder no longer works

When I was given my A-1 outfit there was the Winder A complete with case and it worked well for many months but now will not wind -- the RED LIGHT comes on when I operate shutter manually but will not wind. I took off the screws with a JIS Screwdriver but could not fathom how to get further into it as nothing would undo .. any ideas please ?

Very poor quality in those winders. I have probably 5 of them and some of them actually worked for a small amount of time and then fail like you described. People at eBay claimed they work but I found they did until I put film in the camera. That is why I choose the MA winder or the A2 which have lasted me for many yrs using Eneloop batteries. Never have taken one apart besides cleaning battery terminals so I can't help besides what I suggested.

I suggest you buy another one from Ffords, they have them from £9 it's not worth worrying about.
