Coffee Developers

Mixing Temp

#1
I see a number of discussions where folks have mixed up their Caffenol recipes at room temp. I've never used either Caffenol nor Instant Coffee, but I have mixed plenty of developers and there's a preponderance of commercial developers that mix at 100 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit or thereabouts. I kind of assumed that I'd do the same here and focus on the PH levels, too. Let it cool to a developing temp and then use.

Anything wrong or against recommendation in this approach?

Thanks for your guidance.

i never mix my chemicals warm, usually room temp , not sure what others do  im guessing 80ºF might be hot enough, everything you might add in there goes into solution pretty fast

I already answered in the other thread :
I always prepare soda, vit C and coffee separately with a little bit of hot water so everything is completely dissolved. Then I add refrigerated filtered water to bring the temperature down and mix them together with a filter.

Because soda ashes and vit. C is very difficult to dissolve in cold water and instant coffee sticks to the spoon when mixed with cold water.

hello fs999 what do you consider cold water ? right out of the spigot about 65-68ºF is what i do, NEVER have had trouble of any kind,
summer months the water is a little warmer i live where it snows a lot and is cold in the winter months so tap water is different temps all year long.
sorry to be such a contrarian but how cold is cold and how hot is hot ?

Yes, yes, yes. Sorry to post in more than one place. I'm just trying to figure out where to find the helpful eyeballs. (Flickr definitely isn't that). So thanks!
