I shoot 98% black and white using mostly FP4 these days rated at 50asa and developed in Perceptol or at 200asa and developed in Rodinal. I have many film cameras as they are so cheap to pick up on ebay . I mainly use my Rollei 6002 which I have 50mm ,80mm and x2 convertor and a useful rc120 cable release for tripod work. My travel anywhere camera is my Rolleicord V TLR (1956 model). I have all my darkroom kit currently stored away so I scan my developed negs using an epson V500 scanner. ...

It certainly sounds as if you have all the right kit there. I have more kit than time now. I have a new-ish 6006 that I really like a lot but haven't got round to developing any negs yet. Need to do that. Zeiss lenses for that lot. I have a 6001 and a 6008 as well, but I am suspicious that the older Zeiss lenses really don't take full advantage of what the 6008 will do so I don't use it much, but it is one slick piece of camera!

Hi Logan you are right about the early lenses not linking to all the features of the 6008 . I can recommend for any Rollei 6000 series owner the Club Rollei book the author being Ian Parker whose Uncle financed the starting of the original Rollei company in the 1920,s . The book title is Rollei 6000 series users manual..ISBN 1-874031-01-6. This was published in 1996 and covers the SLX to the 6008 professional. It details the camera features,lenses and accessories .
The time taken up by film photography as opposed to digital contributes greatly to the pleasure I get from the hobby. I often go with my eldest son on a trip out with the camera (leaving the wives at home or shopping as their is nothing worse than setting up a shot and behind you your wife sighing and asking if you have finished yet). He shoots digital and the schedule goes something like this...........
Night before trip he charges his battery... I check out my cameras to choose what camera ,lenses and films to take , this may be determined by weather,location and which of the cameras I favor using for the day. On location I shoot 3 rolls of film , he shoots 300 shots. On the journey home (me driving ) he reviews on his camera the days shots deleting any bad ones( I value my bad shots and learn from them not dismiss them out of hand) ..I think about the shots I took and how best to develop them depending on film,asa. Arriving home he downloads to computer and works on the images. I arrive home looking forward to a time slot when I can develop my images. He post processes his shots and thats it, whilst I still have to develop,scan and process. Finally I have the pleasure of winding him up by advising him that his landscape shots (after his photoshop processing) look like they have been taken on the planet Mars , displaying colors that do not exist in the natural world, whilst he retorts that my black and white images belong in the 19th century. Photography is a great hobby.....

We seem to have dropped off here. I've been fighting a kidney ston. Not a recomended activity. Next week off to an IVP to see who's really there and (hopefully) what to do about him or it. At any event I did get the SLX and got it up and running. Did not like the .8 amp fuse, but likes a 1.5 amp slo blo OK. No negs developed yet. haven't felt like DR work, but when I do. Ordered uo a Mamiya 645 Suoer to play with. They seem to be good toys, too. Keep shooting. Use whatever hits your hand. Ever use caffenol? I want to try that when I feel better.

I did get well and am back at work. Sorry I dropped off. But I am back. You still working? I need to hit the DR pretty quick now. Got several rolls to develop and see what I have been doing and if any of it is worth anything at all and finally try caffenol. Hope we can going again here

I'm a dilettante, or a neophyte, or a newb (or what-have-you), but I've been fooling with cameras since the late '80s. Over the past couple of years of grad school and teaching, I've been assembling a 'working' SLX camera set. At last I've found that Batteries+ would refurbish two of my non-functioning akkus with new NiCds, and I was able to see the beautiful red leds in all their glory--as of a few weeks ago. Now I'm starting out with the SLX with 3 working bodies (2 were sold as broken or untested), a standard 80mm Planar and the 150mm Sonnar, along with many accessories and doodads that accompanied various used purchases. I'm waiting to get the first rolls processed.

I hope people are still looking at threads for this group occasionally. -Manny

Well, I still look from time to time to see who's here. Batteries are always our big problem. Mine just don't last very long, but when they do, the images are superb, aren't they?

Well, I'm still fussing about from time to time. I did rebuild my batteries and that helped a lot but I find my self using the SL66 more that any of my 6000's. I just like them better I guess. Here's my wife to gou out to dinner and we have to go... more later on..
