I know that many of you may know this but thought I share anyways.
I went by my local Ritz and they had a sign that they were closing their doors and everything was at 30% off.
I also read that when liquidizers come in they raise the prices by that much. So it may or may not be a good time to stock up on film or paper or a camera but I'm planning to walk in a see.

Camera World of Oregon was a subsidiary of Ritz. Anyone know if they are similarly going out of business (too bad their inventory isn't what it was before Ritz took them over...then there might be something interesting in a sale!)

I called Camera World and they said "No" to its location closing. I did happen to walk into the Evergreen store and browsed. Didn't see anything I had to have. They did have one box of 5x7 Ilford Multigrade fiber paper but no price on it. I would offer them $5 by the way it looked.
They had a nice Epson printer and a roller paper cutter. I might offer something for as well.

Good morning;

Boy, lots of things are changing. I bought my first Minolta SLR from Brenner Photo in Washington, D. C. across Pennsylvania Avenue from the FBI Building at Tenth and Pennsylvania. This was before they became a division of (were bought by) Ritz.

Yes, "going out of business sales" can be a bargain, if you are careful and know what you are getting into. Warranty procedures could be interesting. Then there were some companies who had these sales as an annual event.

Enjoy; Ralph Javins

Yeah, there was an newspaper article that states business raise their stock prices up 40 percent then advertise "Going out of Business everything cut 30%."
It can be a racket all right!
