Richard,
The lack detail visable in a scan doesn't help you here but even so this seems random to me. It lacks the carefully seen organization I've come to expect from your work. My eye doesn't flow around the image but hunts around looking for relationships that don't seem to be there. I spent some time with this image last night and again today and have come up empty. What was it about the scene that attracted you in the first place? All the best. doc
My initial attraction was to the jumbled, over-grown mess of invasive plants that are choking out the native plants in and around the county. It literally is a mess of chaos--I was trying to see if I could make a picture out of it. The result was something that not obviously composed and "ordered" but movement involving masses of tone. The first or "top" layer is light and moving to the top right, the second layer is darker and moving to the top left.
This is sort of a new way of seeing for me, and I am not sure where it came from. I havn't really photographed or printed in months, but I know that this direction and this way of seeing resonates with me.
