Providence Canyon is Georgias 'Grand Canyon', and is basically a big dirt gully! All the formations are in banded dirt and as such is fairly ephemeral. In 50 years it may be Providence Valley. The neg suffers from the classic pinholing that seems to have caused the demise of HIE, anyone know if Spotone will effectively repair these? I'd love to be able to print this on my Ilford Warmtone but these spots have got to go!
A pretty scene! Could the pinholes be caused by a too strong stop bath? I read about this problem with conventional B&W but I don't know about HIE. I use only water for stop now and never see pin holes.
There was quite a discussion on the infrared mailing list about this. Seems there was a defect in the manufacturing process that caused the emulsion to pop off in these little spots and there was nothing you could do but pray to avoid them.
This ethereal image illustrates a much better handling of the Kodak Infrared than I accomplished a year ago. Great framing and composition. One might refer to the location as "Georgia's Gorge". (Lets see how many APUG members remember?)
