Escher's Pendulum

Artwork in an atrium at the University of Minnesota contains a Foucault pendulum, LED lighting, helical elements, and engraved numbers, all referring to themes of science and mathematics. This 180-degree stitched panorama confused the software and gave this Escheresque result.

Excellent! It's "a trip" as some of us used to say.

Did you stitch with that image in mind (at some point) ...or did working with stitching lead you to this image?

The color results at gigapan.com are also appealing...and not constrained by a rectangle.

Thanks jtk, during the coronavirus outbreak, I've been revisiting old images. The Escher's Pendulum was an unexpected joy. I thought I would get a regular panorama but the ramps and even wall texture confused it.

Wow, great shot, nice composition, interesting subject. Kallitypes can be tricky. Do you have to check the pH of your developer to prevent yellowing.

artonpaper I'm lucky not to have had much trouble with kallitypes. I pour out the bottom 130 ml (along with its sludge of dissolved iron) for each print, and replenish with an equal amount of fresh developer. I'm seeing some variation in the color of the unexposed paper from print to print but it's pretty mild. It might also be related to the strength of my palladium toner and the amount of time I tone. I have pH test strips but (aside from initial setup) haven't needed to use them
