Already missing it. It looked stunning and seeing it rise in the evenings was beautiful!
There have been talks about making it a permanent installation at some point. I hope that happens!
It struck me from the beginning flotilla down the Seine that Paris did so well at integrating the games into the fabric of the city (and surrounding countryside). A gutsy thing to do in this age of rampant paranoia, and a cause for jubilation when they pulled it off. The optics of the runners coming down from Montmartre to the river and the volleyball courts at the foot of the Eiffel Tower were iconic, but my favorite thing was a TV camera shot of a little girl standing alone in a farmer’s field waving her tricolor as the cross-country cyclists flew past.
And a postscript vis-a-vis that blown out highlight on the orb: it just makes it look more like an alien landing craft…cool
