'Ol Barn

'Ol Barn

i aint gettin' out of oregon..
Old barns are some of my favorite things. I think this would be a better image if it were a little more *contrast-y*. Do you have access to any filters? I'd start with a 3 or 3 1/2.

Is this a 35mm image it looks a little soft. Or was that the intention. I agree maybe a little more Barn.

Once again a tripod would have helped and a smaller aperature. As for the print I would punch it up too. It has no life.

For me I would not include anymore of the barn. This is good but not presented well.

before commenting I would like to know what it is your trying to "say" with this photo. What made you stop and compose it the way you did? Once we know these things then we can determine if the way you did works for us or not. Comments like "to little barn", "to much barn", "light", "dark" etc mean nothing in the present context except whether those things would make the photo "prettier" to those that are making the comments. Is that all your interested in is a "pretty" photo, or are you trying to convey something here?

the good
interesting subject
good composition
good contrast

the bad
the subject is actually a little close
the sky is dead (not a big deal)

fixes
this is one of the few times stepping back would have been helpful. The vines rock and nothing will ever remove the opening from its seat as the focal point. The vines actually would have dragged the viewer's eye back to the hole.

Some might argue that it would be good to square the camera (made it parallel with the wall not looking up) and that would be good because it would have minimized the dead sky. You can always burn the sky in later
