I don't usually use the 4x5 for portaiture. But it was sitting out when this lovely family arrived and they were curious, so I did 2 shots with the Crown Graphic, and the rest of the shoot with the Hassy.
This is my and their favorite.
It was taken horizontally and has been cropped to vertical. Window light.
I look forward to printing it.

boyooso - I've seen lovely portrait work here on APUG done on 4x5 or larger. My hesitation to date has been not feeling confident with myself. I've attempted before a couple of times to use the 4x5, with not very good results - getting flustered because I'm being watched and doing something dopey like forgetting to stop down. Luckily the only boo-boo I made this time was trying to take a photo with the darkslide still in - which, didn't waste film, and was quickly remedied.

I've been trying to get out at least once a week with the 4x5, and am getting more sure of myself, so I'll use it for portraiture more often.

WOW, this is outstanding. could the reason for it being the best like be becasue it took slightly longer to set up and a little more time with detail?

great job.

This portrait is so moving, it actually brought tears to my eyes...

Thank you everyone. Their baby boy was born this morning. He is joining a wonderful family.
