Black oaks - Yosemite

I later realized, that these trees can been found in the wonderful book of John Sexton (Listen to the trees). Pic. taken in fall 1999.

Are you sure thats not infrared film? Looks like Konica 750 to me.
 
There is something strange on the tree bark, some weird texture. How did you scan the negative and did you do anything to the scan?
 
The scan was made with a Plustek ST 48, 1200 dpi. The contrast was changed. I remember metering directly at the trees. The original print is better..

i notice that scanning the black and white from film always look very much different from the print....and it seems that the film scan always look more grainy than the print. not sure how if this could be overcome?
 
I find that if you scan on maximum resolution in colour, then desaturate -100% and then resize - the scan is closer to the original although never as rich as the original print. Sometimes just a touch of un-sharp mask is needed to take away the softness scanning seems to create. HTH Tony
