I really love the effect of the snow blown onto the tree trunks. I imagine that's what intrigued you too. Here is where Ansel Adams' comment about the intrusiveness of the sky in a forest comes into play. I find the sky does detract from the rhythm of the snow and the trunks. For a first in-the-field effort with a 4x5, I'd say your well on your way. BTW, the Crown Graphic is a blast to use, but ditch the old Ektar for a modern lens.
I've came a long way since this photo(eve though its one of my fav.) . This was taken in 2003 November.
I also sold the Crown Graphic in MArch and been shooting with an Ikeda Anba wood field that i restored. I never liked the graflex to be honest.
But the Ektar is still with me and gets used all the time. I know a nice nikon SW 120mm would be nice and i could use it on my 8x10 too but there is no way i can afford it.
