I'm on the fence about this - do the hands being not entirely (or at all) in focus bother people, or is that ok? I think it COULD work, but I'm not sure how I feel about it.
It's a close-up, and many/most people would expect some focus limits (though I'm not sure if that will be true in a generation of so...). The hands are alive, and potentially moving.
I think they are fine, as long as you don't show them to photographers!
I think that as long as the egg shell is in such sharp focus, the hands are ok like that. Like grahamp said, it suggests movement. I would just change the gestures to make the hands more appealing. Cool experiment!
My natural inclination is for the major elements to be in sharp focus, the hand appears to be a major element of the composition. I find the image on the right more satisfying.
