FINALLY! After 12 years of waiting, the darkroom is finally complete and this is the first print. It will be followed by another, slightly different view, and the better of the 2 will be done on Ilford Cooltone MGFB. That one will go to the gentleman who gave me the darkroom equipment.
Thank you both and thanks for the likes. I've been driving past this for years, and every time, I thought about how to shoot it. It came down to being captured at just the right time on just the right day with just the right film. To me it's really a picture of the foothills and sky with an abandoned harvester in front, so facing west, it has to be some time in morning or early afternoon. But it needs clouds, which generally don't begin to form until around noon. To really capture those clouds, it had to be infra-red. I've played with SFX, but after shooting Rollei IR400 I ain't going back. The grain under the focuser was very, very cool.
I have the same problem, an abandoned, beautiful all metal piece of farm equipment by a road in New Mexico. There is absolutely nothing around, no trees or significant vegetation, and, the main problem, It is located 700 miles from my abode.
I go 2 or 3 times a year but not a cloud in the sky each time. I should give it up!
