Interesting lighting in the tree! The light in the background is a little distracting. I'd like to see a little more detail, light sparkle in the snow perhaps? (I don't feel qualified enough to judge, but that's what I think)
Kind regards
Nicole

I like the mood that it sets, "A cold winter night". I can almost feel the chill in the air.

On my monitor I can see what looks like "sparkles" in the snow. Are there any in the print?

Jim

If I I remember right, your first scan showed the backlight with less density. It sparkled more in the upper part of the tree.

I suspect there is a lot going on in this image that becomes a little lost in the ether between your print and the monitor. The lighting you've captured is beautiful. There is detail that we can see on the ground right out to the edges of the print, and there's a sparkle in that lighting. Same in the tree; the 'rim' lighting picks up and silhouettes all the little branches intricately. I bet my last roll of APX this print of this one is gorgeous!

Nicole: I have another negative without the post light. It seems a lot less interesting to me. The light was on a security switch which was activared by a passing animal I guess.

Jim & Thomas: There is quit a bit of sparkle from snow crystal reflection on the print (8x10) which are very pronounced in the 11x14. There is some kind of artifact in the Mate's scanner which omits small semi-isolated pixels but combines others depending on their proximity (huh?) yielding a salt&pepper appearance.

John: Hold on to your APX. I was really lucky in that 1) I forgot the damn thing setting there with the shutter open until the Mate reminded me (12-15 minutes?) and the development in D761:1, N-1 probably should have been N-2 or D23 split, but it came out pretty good in the shadows (dang scanners).

Thanks to all who responded. I certainly respect all of your opinions.
