Lambrigg Wind Farm

Lambrigg Wind Farm

Located not a million miles from the proposed APUG UK Gathering, the Lambrigg Wind Farm has five turbines within sight of M6 J37. To get an idea of the scale, look at the base of each stem. The little shadow is a flight of steps and a door...

Hi Frank,
Beautiful tones and you've controlled that Delta 100 very well  Yet another subject of beauty that is so destructive, as recent stats show deaths of wild birds and worryingly raptors increase where these are sited
Tony

wonderful tones in the clouds Frank - I'm sure the birds will learn eventually, it's better to have a few avoidable hazards than no environment worthy of living in because of fossil fuel emissions!

Hi Leon, We are getting many reports from Cornwall where they have many of these about noise-pollution and an increase in sickness of those living near to where these have been placed. Alas as always only time will tell if they are a safer alternative, but they are beautiful to my eye to see a field of them.

Blimey, I wasn\'t expecting controversy! ;-)

If it\'s any help, here\'s a link to a page detailing a survey on local opinion on this very windfarm: http://www.bwea.com/ref/lambrigg.html (Note: The survey was conducted by the BWEA, so I\'m certainly not claiming it\'s impartial!) Personally, I don\'t have strong views either way. However, any human construction will have an impact on the environment and I\'d much rather look at these than a conventional power station!

Getting back to the photo itself...! This is a work print. I\'m thinking of darkening the whole plot by about 1/6 to 1/4 of a stop, burning in the clouds a bit darker (they\'re already burnt in a bit), swapping to MGWT FB and toning in selenium at about 1:9 until it looks really ominous! Thoughts anyone?

Hi Frank, Sorry wasn't intending to bring any controversy to your picture

The variations sound interesting and I think the changes would certainly add more impact, besides which I'm a sucker for really good clouds. Can't comment on the selenium dilution as I still have to get around to trying mine, but again selenium is going to give it more Punch. If you decide to try don't forget to post as I'd love to see the results.

Tony

Toronto has added it's first wind turbine recently, no polls to report on yet...
Nice print! If you do try to make the clouds darker (more ominous), perhaps lightening the field on the lower left would increase the effect.

I quite like the clouds as they are on my monitor, although I would definitely add some more punch to the grass areas. I think the warm tone paper in selenium that strong would possibly be a bit browny-red for this image??
