I am interest in the story or message you were trying to convey - what did this say to you that made you make the exposure. There does not appear to be a bite to this image that would justify the shot, in places it appears somewhat soft which is surprising for an L/F image. The print appears to be unbalance with the eye being drawn up and out of the image where as a little burning in would have rectified this. Having just finished John Blakemores workshop this is the sort of thing I am looking for and appreciate they are not easy to do well. Even closer and focusing on a smaller area might help. Carl-thank you for the critique. The actual print does not seem to have the light falloff problem that this scan seems to have.. This is only the 5th photo I have uploaded in my entire life so please bear with me. Yes I believe that the image is a little soft for a LF negative-probably due to improper use of swings tilts-the photograph was one of the first negatives I made after a 2.5 year absence from photography. I'll be more astute as to what I choose to upload from now on. You're more than welcome to comment on the other photographs I have posted. As they say in the biz-you can't win em all.

I am very much beginning with 5x4 too. In fact the Leica M6 has just made wallet space for a 5x7 or 8x10 - all that will do at the moment is let people see my mistakes with greater clarity. I think you have been caught between two stools here in that you have not moved in close enough or far enough out to convey what "I" think you were trying to convey. What did you think of the image in the link?
