Nice photo. Regarding the comparison of XP2 to HP5, they are drastically different films. XP2 should have a much more "grainless" look, especially in 35mm.
I'm not sure it's better. It is "grainless", as images39 says above. And it's a C41 film, so it can be developed by a color lab. But the film itself is not stable, it will fade over time, much more quickly than standard b&w film. Besides, I like a little grain ... It's a preference.
Though Its far from grain free, I do like lesser grain and more contrast with finer detail. I also like the overall tonal range and feel of the scanned negatives. Not a big difference but I do like it better, at least so far.
