Thanks Leon, I have yet to print this in the darkroom and with it closed for summer I have slightly digitally toned it to replicate what I want to achieve when my darkroom opens again. I think it works better toned than straight B/W and I will use a light sepia toner when I get the chance too.

Another fine negative! I believe this will print wonderfully, I see fire, feel flames and perhaps un intended symbolism. It is very well done! You must post a print of this one.

I love the image as-is, but I would LOVE to see a cropped version of this image, as a real print. Instead of print the full 4x5 image, I would crop off the top black and make the negative a 2x5, and print it like 8x20 or whatever it works out to be.

I would keep the same amount of black space above and below the flower.

Just a suggestion I been into the horizonal panoramic images latly! haha!

Thank you for all your comments everyone. RyanI think your suggestion about cropping is a fair one, there is a bit too much black space above the sunflower, will try this out when I get back to the dark room. I have printed this out in pure carbon in the mean time on the PC and the print looks quite promising. Thanks again all.

Hi John, the source of light was a single bowens flash 500k ( I used the ambient light as opposed to the flash so i could see exactly what was happening to the light on the sunflower) and this was aimed from above i believe, sorry i cant be more accurate as my memory seems to fail me on this occasion.
