Pentax Auto 110 Super, Lomo Tiger 200

Rollei A110, Vision3 50D

I loaded the 50D into a fast cart by mistake. Still worked.

I’ve seen nice picture done with Kodak ImageLink HQ & other microfilms. Check out the Microfilm group on Flickr.

Getting 16mm short ends or recans is impossible these days.

BH has new package 100 foot rolls of 16 mm for $60 to $70. Single perf works great in Minolta, Kiev, and Yashica 16 mm cameras, and single perf is what a Rollei or Edixa wants.

Sure, but I got into this when $60-$70 would get you a few years supply. I have to work myself up to spending that.

To me, that's barely more than a 100 foot roll of .EDU Ultra 100 or 400, and less than the same length of XP2 Super or FP4+ -- and barely more than 1/8 the cost of a 400 foot 35 mm camera roll of the same emulsion.

Instamatic 60, Tri-x, HC110 1:49 10min

I usually shoot microfilm through this camera and have a piece of dark exposed film over the sensor to trick it. I figured that Tri-X wouldn't need the extra exposure. The photos came out under exposed. Next time I'll fool the meter again.

The 60 should expose for ISO 100 all the time -- there were no 400 cartridges in that generation and the camera doesn't have a speed sensor. Your meter may need adjustment...

Or the batteries need replacing or the mechanism is going or a bunch of things. I'm going to run a roll with the ad hock ND filter over the sensor next time.

Dingo fence?

Does the I60 work with unperfed film cholenpot? My Rollei E110 does but the spacing is pretty large.

Which reminds me that I have a Rollei. Totally forgot about it. I should get it out from whatever hiding place it is in and shoot a roll.

This is Fuji HR developed with Rodinal.

The Kodak 60 works fine with non-perf. I'm using my A110 with 16mm now but I made sure to tape down the feeler pin. It seems to work, I'll really only know after the dev though.

How much spacing does the K60 put between frames?

You'll be fine with the Rollei if the A110 works the same as the E110. It does advance the film every time you operate the mechanism and it does have quite a bit of space between frames. From memory it is about 1/2 to 3/4 a frame's worth. On the upside, the frame is quite a bit larger but it is also offset compared to the viewfinder, and the vignetting is fairly pronounced. It works better with thicker film. The thin microfilm I've put through it always has one corner distorted. The feeler pushes pretty heavily on the film. I never got any really sharp images on the thin microfilm. I did pull the springs on the back out more to get more tension on the cassette. That seemed to help a bit.

About a half-frame worth between frames. I always double advance with it. It doesn't bother me, 16mm film is cheap enough.

Good to know.

Exactly on the cheap. I wouldn't cut down 35mm for the Rollei just because of the waste, but 16mm microfilm is so cheap I don't care.

I am glad this thread popped back up. I pretty much forgot about 16mm. I had completely sealed up all the light leaks on the Rollei then never used it after. I also picked up a roll of Agfa microfilm more than a year ago, but I haven't even cracked the seal on it. I should get back into it.

With the feeler pin taped down you need to take the shot if you open the camera or you lose the shot, right?

Do you have any advice on the reloading of the 110 cassettes? I'm guessing there are probably no reloadable ones available, so you carefully open the new ones and tape them back together after reloading?

My camera never did that thing where it doesn't skip a frame. If I opened and didn't shoot the used film would lose tension and screw up the whole roll. I treat it as open and use. Yes, I carefully open 110 cassettes and then reload them. You don't even need to use the backing paper really.

It's seasonal for me. Currently I shoot 16mm and develop it using my used developer. I'll develop a few rolls of 35mm or 120 and then instead of tossing the one shot I'll just develop all my 16mm. I've never had an issue yet. I suspect the developer maintains its strength far better then manufactures will back. Sometimes I'll develop a roll of 120 and put the 16mm atop the 120 reel and knock them both out.

Been a while since I shot 110. So I loaded up my Rollei A110. Finished that in about 30 mins! It’s funny how when I use a 110 camera EVERYTHING looks interesting!

You should try a Minox! That is like interesting on steroids. Lol. I can tear through a Minox roll in no time. It is between like a 110 camera and shooting with a movie camera. I need to do that one of these days too.

Rollei A110, 16mm Tri-X HC110B for 8min

A few modifications and differences with this roll. I taped down the feeler lever so I can roll film with perfs through it without worrying about orientation. I also made sure to get the ISO cutout right for this roll. I was underexposing on my last rolls I put through this camera. I did get some weird mottling from development but that could be a bunch of things. Mainly the film coming off the reel in the tank.

Another option is 120 film. You can get three 16mm rolls from it or FOUR 15.25mm rolls. For many cameras, the 0.75mm "deficiency" makes no difference at all.

And it doesn't have to be a Minox. There are plenty of cameras that use the Minox cassettes -- with all sorts of variations:
