the fellow at Kosmo Photo posted that the Lucky Film SHD 400 is expected to be sold overseas in March 2024. the story metiones that Lucky Brand film disappered about 2012. the article does say that SHD400, shows pronounced grain at box speed.

the story seems to originate with Chinese photo specialty firm Reflex Labs.

Lucky was in a partnership with Kodak who sold Lucy a coating line, Lucky made a 80s vintage Kodacolor, the grain would be more pronounced. When I worked part time at a Motophoto we sold a lot of Lucky to real estate agents and insurance adjusters who need a fast cheap film. Wonder if Lucky has a new emulsion or just dusted off their old 400 speed?

One Polaroid disposable I got from a flea market, I extracted the film off it and saw it had lucky super 400 inside it and while expiration date was 2010, it seemed to have been stored well because I was happy with the results off it. I've been wanting to try it again if I could find it.

I think ERA was rebranded Ferrinia, which used the old 3M color emulsions. But at the same time there was lot of rebranded Fuji and Agfa as well. Polaroid branded Fujicolor 100 and 400 was sold at Walmart, I shot a lot of it.

and while re-branding implies that the brand name was packing the film, any of there was more a private label situation where fuji, agfa or whoever made one or more batches of film with the in this case "Polaroid" label.

When I lived stateside in the late 90s I bought a of the cheap Polaroid branded 35mm film at Wal-Mart, as I was on a very low wage. I seem to recall it was Agfa at that point in time....or at least something identified it as being "made in Germany".

Anyway....regarding Lucky film, if they really are coating new film then all power to them. If it's really like 90s Kodacolor, I shall be looking for some.

They said they will consider colour film if their "new" BW film sells well. So, be sure you buy a lot of Lucky Pan SHD 400 first...

yes, we should all consider buying at least a few rolls of any of the new films, just to show interest.

Disclaimer: I have already personally used this so called "SHD400" and found it to be the exact same thing as the Type 1023 film sold by small film dealers here in China.

What really matters about this current film is....was it coated recently or is it a supply they've found in a warehouse? At least it's not disguised Fomapan or Aviphot....it is actually something different!

Note this film is far from the speed written on the box but close to 125-ish speed. Take that in mind when shooting.

Here is the negative. This seems to be an early production run so had some issues below.
It is coated on a clear PET base with a gray-blue-ish anti-halation layer. Still, pretty usable I'd say.

The 100 speed rating seems reasonable based on the two rolls I've shot and developed.
