Ansco 120 (USA) is a different formulation than Agfa 120 (German)
Ansco 120 Soft Working Paper Developer
Water (125 deg F)--------------------750 ml
Metol---------------------------------12.3 grams
Sodium Sulfite (Anhydrous)------------36.0 grams
Sodium Carbonate (Anhydrous)--------36.0 grams
Potassium Bromide (KBr)----------------1.8 grams
Water to make-------------------------1.0 liter
Note: For warmer tones, add more KBr
I have used Ansco 120 as bath #1 in conjuntion with Ansco 130 as bath #2, to control overall contrast. I found that Ansco 120 as published produces a cyanotype blue with low shadow separation. So, I tried adding additional KBr. I ended up adding 4 times the recommended amount to the stock solution above. Both developers are diluted 1:2.This change gave excellent results with Azo and the new Lodima #3 papers for contrasts between grade 2 and 3.
