This is the kind of story that makes me super happy! It follows stories of rediscovering old techniques, for example with the former employee Meinrad Schär, and has an exciting sense of optimism!

I'm curious in general; other than the other factory I heard ADOX has, does this merely mean an extended capacity with original filmcoating equipment? Or is there something special about it being in this former Ciba factory?

A new black-and-white film, hmm! Curious what you're cooking, what niche you guys are looking to fill... must be CMS 20 III.

I just meant the article specifically mentions that they can't yet write about a "new black and white film that Adox wants to produce in Marly in the spring", my CMS III is more of a joke. Maybe they can also be preparing a color film. And what would it be other than that 3 ISO film recently announced? How many new stocks could they be preparing? Those Adox guys can be doing anything...

Ich finde den Artikel ziemlich flach. Inhaltlich gibt es einen groben Fehler, wenn Polyethylen-Folie geschrieben wird. Es muß natürlich Polyester oder ganz genau Polyethylenterephthalat lauten. Meine Kritik betrifft aber den journalistischen Aspekt. Sonst: Alles Gute!

I’m finding the article rather dull. There is a heavy mistake with polyethylene foil. It should read polyester or PETP. My criticism goes on the journalistic aspect. Else: all the best!

I was really disappointed to read the news about CMS II 20 effectively being discontinued due to the closure of Eastman Park Micrographics. It (or more precisely, Agfa Copex) is such a unique film that I'd hate to see Agfa stop manufacturing it. But, without a large vendor like EPM to facilitate adequate global sales, it'd likely be difficult for Agfa to justify the continued expenditure. (Perhaps we'll see?)

The article specified Adox was looking to possibly start production of a black and white film in the spring. A comparable microfilm to replace CMS II 20 would be great -- absolutely -- but I wonder how difficult it is to produce a film with such high resolution.

At the risk of stirring the speculation pot, I'm reminded of a thread I started a few years ago in which I posed a question to Adox regarding the feasibility of reviving Efke/Maco IR820 (https://www.photrio.com/forum/threa...y-chance-for-an-adox-supported-reboot.183034/). Adox kindly responded in Post #17.

By the way, I will instantly buy for the value of CHF 5000 a fine-grain panchromatic or orthopanchromatic black-and-white film with an anti-halation subbing on colourless TAC, jumbos. Exposure Index should be between ISO 10 and 20.

It would be nice and as I said in that thread that you linked, I would behind them all the way if they were ever to make it happen. But they do at least have HR-50, sadly only in 35mm though. Sheet film version or even 120, would be nice. I don't really like working with 35, especially for IR. For now, I have to keep reminding myself that I have a 50 sheet box of Efke IR...

What's the last time you caught a journalist on having any technical knowledge. I mean they are the people that use football fields as a measure of unit for surface, be glad they didn't just write "plastic"

On topic: I think it will be iso 400 b/w - someone quite close to the fire said something in the last half year about that - it can be found in the interwebz whatever it is, I hope it will be in 120 too.

Das finde ich aber etwas unfair. Die beiden haben sich wirklich viel Mühe gegeben und alles aufgedröselt. Der Artikel ließt sich wie Butter. Außerdem stimmt das mit dem Polyethylen. Wir haben in der Maschine immer rotes Zugaband aus 80 mü dünnem Polyethylen. Sie startet tatsächlich darauf und dann läut das PET oder TAC, danach wieder Polyethylen 100 Meter bis zum stop. Die beiden haben sich das alles erkären lassen und Notizen gemacht. Ich hätte das Korrigieren können, habe es aber selber übersehen.

I shouldn’t have expected that. From my years as a lab technician I know about PET leader in the processors or triacetate but not PE. And I don’t want to be mean, only provocative. Fomapan R 20, would that scare you?
