I just check a U.S seller, 17 emulsions in stock, including Ortho and Tmax 400, I just ordered Foma 100 in 4X5
Film > Black and White Film
Freestyle has the largest selection of 35mm black and white film from every major manufacturer like Kodak, Fuji, Ilford, Arista, Foma, Woflen and Cinestill. In addition, we carry a complete line of 120 film and sheet film in stock and ready to ship.www.freestylephoto.com
As may be clear from Paul's observation, issues of availability are often related to issues in the distribution chain.
Particularly for product that might only be manufactured once or twice a year, if then.
Matt, I still don't think it's as clear....considering that Norway has a population of 5.5 million people.... The number of 8x10 users must be tiny, so it's not surprising that fotoimport.no would be out of stock
This is my concern as well. The fact that Ilford Ortho Plus in 8x10 format is not even listed in Fotoimpex and Maco, the two biggest retailers in Europe, makes me think that it is not expected to be available in the short term.
How about contacting Ilford about there ultra large format (ULF) film programme for 2025 and order direct?

B&H is always going to be the least expensive supplier when it comes to shipping. Here in the USA, they do not charge for shipping at all if you spend $100 (which is VERY easy to do, as you know), and internationally I expect they are still very affordable. Thanks guys! Ive ordered from Maco (not 8x10 though), FotoImpex and B&H. Never from Freestyle. For some reason shipping costs with B&H are lower. Not a lot of 8x10 shooters in Norway, so the availability here is naturally not the best.
This is my concern as well.
The last time I set up an email notification for ordering T-Max 8x10" from B&H when it was back in stock, I waited a few days before intending to order, but then they were out again.
In addition of being out of both films at the larger European retailers, they are also out of both at B&H (no Ortho at Freestyle neither).
Maybe its just a bumb in availability, but I cant really remember the last time Ive been waiting so long for either of those two films. Which makes me concerned it may be a more permanent situation.
What about HP5, or other Ilford films? I've never had a problem sourcing them in 8x10. Then on the cheaper side, there's CatLABS 80... I'm also having heaps of fun with X-ray, when I want that ortho look.
Thanks for all the replies guys. I have considered and tried other films (Delta 100, HP5 and also Foma Ortho), but those two films are the films that gives me the look I want (also for the Ortho, its not about developing by inspection under a safelight) - particularly for large format. I will get into collodion eventually, but not until the kids are a little older.
I think the current scarcity for T-Max 400 has lasted a while though. I think its strange if Ortho Plus will be available for the ULF runs only as it has been available for a long time, even before it was available in roll film. You might be right though. I'm awaiting a response from Ilford. I also contacted Kodak, but I am not convinced I will hear from them.
Keep in mind that Catlabs X80 is Fomapan, so if you buy that, you're just buying Fomapan.
I'm well aware, thanks. CatLABS is cheaper.
I realize that YOU knew, Andy, but I wasn’t sure the OP knew ;-)
I've had very good experiences with contacting fotoimport directly, though, they're willing to try to source stuff not listed in the web store. Ilford Ortho is also listed at Stavangerfoto.no, though it's ordered on request rather than stocked.Matt, I still don't think it's as clear....considering that Norway has a population of 5.5 million people.... The number of 8x10 users must be tiny, so it's not surprising that fotoimport.no might be out of stock.
It's kind of a non sequitur to suggest that "I just bought 4x5(in the USA)" .....has any correlation to "I can't find 8x10(in Norway)"
I didn't know that, actually. Fomapan is readily and cheaply available here.Keep in mind that Catlabs X80 is Fomapan, so if you buy that, you're just buying Fomapan.
though I can't speak to availability in Norway
