Can someone tell me the correct pronunciations for these two chemicals? I can understand the confusion that could arise regarding differentiating them in conversations unless they have specific pronunciations that differ. Living in the isolated northwoods of Wisconsin, most of my darkroom communication is via written form, not verbal.

To make things even more tricky:
In Germany that amino acid is called Glycin.
So it's not only an issue of pronunciation...

In French they would sound exactly the same.

Perhaps we should better use molecule formulas.
Or Sean could provide us with nice molecule structure graphics...

(I don't even dare thinking of Iupac names. Never understood the systematic.)

Proper pronunciation of glycin is parahydroxyphenyl glycin. Proper pronunciation of glycine is amenoacetic acid or glycocoll.

Might be the basis for a sticky thread: "Commonly Mispronounced Words/Terms/Names in Photography".

I know I certainly could benefit from such a thread...
