developer for pushing IR films and fomapan

Hello !


I am using Rollei and Efke infrared film and Fomapan 400.
In all of films I do normally +1, +2 push when I develop.
I have been using Rodinal and Rollei Super grain, R09 and the result is fine so far.
But I just wonder about Rollei RHS...
Do you have any experience pushing those films and any good results??

I prefer concentrated developer and sharp and smaller grains and high contrast images...

I would look for a Technidol type of developer for pushing. I found when I processed Konica 750 in Technidol at the times recommended for Tech Pan I got very printable negs at an EI of 12 to 25 compared to EI 3 for Rodinal.

I assume you use Fomapan 400 for its IR sensitivity? Otherwise I'd just pick a different film. F400 isn't necessarily a bad product, but it effectively is a very grainy 200-speed film with a pronounced S-curve in normal use. I prefer Mytol as a developer for this film, followed by 510 Pyro.

I did have a quick look at Technidol. It looks very much worth to try it.
Only thing is that I buy chemicals and films in Germany and it might be difficult to find it.
But I will keep look for it.

Hi koraks,

yes Fomapan400 is quite grainy So that I don't want to add any grainy effect through developing process..
What I like about this film is how to spread the light... like a water painting. I don't know about film chemistry but it could be what you mentioned as IR effect..
Also I want to support small company.
Mytol is powder developer, isn't it? I have a bad experience...since then I only use concentrated developer. But maybe I should try it again

Technidol is a pota style developer, there are many formulas out there to mix your own. With a little research you may find a formula that behaves very close to Technidol.
