FS:

A lot of TWO Ilford "HP5 Autowinder" Stainless Steel 35mm film processing reels.
NOS, new old stock.
TWO reels, in original packaging, with instructions for using the Autowinder system, or hand loading these reels.
*NOTE*... These stainless steel reels are larger than typical 35mm stainless steel reels and will NOT fit the standard size stainless steel tanks.
Tank NOT included.
IIRC, these are for use with the 72 exposure rolls of HP5 film offered by Ilford back in the day.
(Photrio member @MCB18 might possibly be able to supply you with 72 exposure rolls of Astrum film?).
See photos.
Asking $40 for the pair, includes CONUS shipping, PayPal G&S fees, and a donation to Photrio.

Yes, the Astrum easily will load 80 frames (good for 72 exposures) in a standard cassette.

If only these fit in standard steel tanks I’d absolutely buy (or trade) for these. The plastic one I have is all well and good but idk how durable that’ll be.

Hewes made these reels and a nice loader. I believe that these reels will fit in a Nikor 220 style tank.

I think you can still buy them from Hewes, I believe they have a 35mm x 3m reel listed on the website, which I believe this is. It would certainly be more than $40 though

The Nikor 220 and 4x5 steel tanks are about 4.5" diameter (versus a standard 35mm/120 steel tank that is just under 3.5"). The OD of these reels would tell you if it fits.

Since it was mentioned in the original post, I think it should be ok to point out that I can, in fact, make 72 exposure rolls for folks here in a bit. I’m ordering film from Astrum soon, so this might be something worth considering if you want to shoot a lot of film at once.

Ilford HP5 Autowinder (72 exp.) film was coated on a special thinner base.

40 or more frames of 35mm film of *standard base thickness* will jam and scratch in a 35mm cassette.

Ask me how I know...

Aerial film is coated on that same thin base sometimes, and it fits 72 exposures in the can. Currently still shooting the 72 exposure roll I made but very excited to see the results

Ilford also made black plastic reels that hold 72 exposure loads and those DID fit in standard steel tanks.
