Fujichrome T64 discontinued?

What do people make of this? There does not seem to be any information on Fuji's site (unless I am missing something). Seeing as how they are sponsors here, perhaps we could get some confirmation?

Damn it. I recently bought 3 rolls of T64 to use with my new hot lights, and planned on using much more. Ah well, at least I didn't get really into it, otherwise making the switch to Ektachrome 64T would be much more painful.

Man, I was literally just about to order some of that for some night photography. I've never used it before but wanted to try out tungsten film for night, and was attracted to the Fuji because of the great reciprocity characteristics.

Shot miles of it for stock in the nineties. That film was stuff dreams are made on... Gone exclusively HP5 since then; I guess one more bridge burnt behind now.

Bummer. I had a special project in mind for the duplicating film. I had a sneaking suspicion the film wouldn't last long enough though.

So, if I do want to reproduce E-6 transparencies, how? It doesn't look like Kodak or Fuji make duplicating film anymore.

Kodak's E-Dupe is still available, though not particularly easy to find outside of big stores like B&H etc.

I just talked to my dealer here, he called Fuji and they told him its still in the catalouge. So maybe its only limited the the UK market. Also Fuji still lists it in all sizes on the Japanese webpage and there are no discontinuation announcements either.

They just came out with that film a few years back (replaced 64T Type II)...I really hope that they did not waste their money to develop a film that was only for sale for such a short while. My freezer is running out of space! I can only stock up so much...

Presumably the "recent upturn in sales" has something to do with Polaroid's products being discontinued.

I just received an email from Fuji UK. I asked if T64 was being discontinued and if it was global. The reply:

Hi Steven and thank you for your enquiry.

The announcement you read in BJP is correct. This is a global
discontinuation due to very low sales volume.

We still do have stock of certain T64 formats however, so please speak to
your professional film retailer who can order stock for you.

64T and T64 have different color rendition. Although it seems not to be an option anymore, some people preferred T64 to 64T. That's not to say that 64T is a bad film, just that it is not an exact replacement for T64. Same goes for CDU-II and EDUPE.

Well I have never use either film and I am planning to try some Ektachrome 64T. I think that we all need to take advantage of this film as it is the last tungsten balanced film.

Strange because Fuji Japan told me otherwise, but I will ask them again. Their new price catalouge from March 1, still has it listed with updated prices.

Fuck. This is my favorite color film when I can get away with EI 64. I use it all the time. I even filter it for daylight sometimes when I want its special look. It is perhaps one of the best films ever made. What is wrong with people for not using it by the truckload?

Yikes! I've shot tons of the stuff, and I still use it pretty steadily. I preferred its color rendition over the Ektachrome. Maybe I will go to a color neg workflow. Does Kodak put T64 in readyloads? This bites.

ALL Kodak Readyloads are LONG discontinued. ALL. They went away when Polaroid closed their USA plants, as Polaroid did the assembly for Kodak. Kodak is not going to take up assembly of readyloads themselves.

Fuji Quickloads are still available, though.

For now. Thanks for the info, I haven't had any need to follow what Kodak was up to with quickloads. Well, nothing lasts for ever, I guess I get to learn some new stuff.

Well, the difference here is that Fuji does their own Quickload manufacture and assembly from scratch, they are not dependent on a separate company for partial manufacture and assembly which may or may not stay in business. I think as long as Fuji makes sheet film (probably a very long time) they will offer selected emulsions in the Quickload format. Kodak still makes various emulsions in sheet film, but they never did manufacture the readyload packets or assemble the films into the packets.

Yes, there are still quickloads from fuji, but back to the topic of this post, there will not be T64 quickloads available for too much longer. I'm glad there are still other emulsions available, but I will miss T64 when it's gone. This has been a rough week for me, first the final verdict on POP, and now this.

I am going to place an order for a few rolls tommorrow from Freestyle....I think I will get an 85B filter to be able to shoot some in daylight too. I don't see myself using a 64 ISO film in tungsten light as I don't have a studio. I have found a couple of times when I wanted indoors without a flash....Does anyone use tungsten in daylight with a filter?
