Hello!
I've been lurking on this forum for years now and I don't know why it took me so long to finally join but I am happy I did!
Anyways, I've been a film photographer for many years now living in upstate NY, my father got me into photography at an early age (he shot a Nikon F2 and I shot a little Olympus Pen EE he bought for me) and I always loved working in the darkroom. I got a degree in optical physics, however now I work as a research chemical engineer/electrochemist, I joke that I only have a job to make money to hand it over to Ilford and Kodak.
Recently I moved apartments and I finally have a permanent darkroom space with a beautiful Beseler 23C II (previously I was working with the Ilford darkroom tent) and I'm working on having my first art showing later this year. I can't wait to have the opportunity to show off my work to people in my local community.
My main workhorse is a Nikon F2 which I use for ~90% of my work, but last year I took a plunge and got a Horseman 45HF and I've been loving large format photography more and more and I plan to do much more this summer. The type of work I gravitate towards is architectural photography (I live in a town full of Victorian architecture so I gave plenty of things to photograph!) with an emphasis on bold geometric compositions.
Photography is my favorite hobby and I'm happy to be apart of such a great community.
Thanks!!
