A couple of film labs which I haven't seen frequently discussed at Photrio appeared on my radar lately: B&C (in Vegas) and Gelatin (in the center of BosWash). Any input on these or others?
My most recent rolls, which were black and white, went to theFINDlab (near Salt Lake City). TheFINDlab does seem to get mentioned more often at Photrio.
Correct me if I am wrong, but don't you mean to ask about film processing labs that are less well known, rather than less "popular"?
We have a lot of discussions here about things that aren't "popular"

I've sent my last few batches of color film to Gelatin for processing and scanning and been very happy with their results. Not the cheapest, but I feel like the quality is worth the cost. They offer several scanning resolution options, and their upgrade "SuperPro" scans are approximately 174MB ~6774×4492 TIFF scans (16 bits/channel) @96ppi. For example, here are a few half frame (which they scan at no extra charge) examples on expired film.
