Lubing pneumatic shutter

Just finished taking apart and cleaning with naphtha all the part of an Optimo shutter.

According to the manufacturer, they were lubed. My questions are :

1. What lube should I use?
2. What should be lubed? I guess the swivel points - marked in red on the photo?

Many shutters run dry. If the manufacturer states particular parts need oil, I would suggest Nyoil.

Nyoil on those “spinning” parts would be fine. Don’t forget a grease for the “sliding” parts.

Just don’t use much. A little smear is all it takes.

As in molybdenum disulfide? Probably would work, but the stuff is almost worse than anti-seize for mess potential.

My dad was very fond of it, so there was always a bunch of it around when I was a kid, sixty years later, I avoid the stuff whenever possible.
I recently bought some Tri-Flow grease to try out on a lens helical. It’s a teflon-based silicone grease, almost clear. Works well in bicycle freewheels.

bought this moly-d dry filM spray as its MSDS shows only 3 ingredients and 10-15% molyd (The one marketed for the guns had 6-7 ingredients and 2-3% moly) : https://www.grainger.ca/en/product/LUBRICANT-DRY-MOLY-16OZ-AEROSOL/p/CRP6080

Took apart the shutter again and sprayed outside all the surfaces that touch another. Initially it looks black and messy, but in few minutes it dries well in nice grey colour.

It now runs super smooth. It remains to be seen how long it will last.

Congrats! Spay lube is a bit unorthodox yet might work well when carefully applied as it appears you have done. The old service manuals and repair guides never had the opportunity to consider the modern miracles we now have in lubricants. If only they knew what was on the horizon!
