The Auto Winder AW-90 is an exclusive accessoire for the Minolta 9000 AF and offers a handy alternative to the more powerful Motor Drive MD-90.
The AW-90 is rare on the used market, so I was looking for a way to repair my second AW-90, whose battery holder slider was missing.
The battery holder could no longer be secured in the housing.
I found a replacement slider in a Minolta Auto Winder G for Minolta X cameras.
The winder isn't in great condition, so I decided to use it as a spare parts donor.
The slider fits perfectly in terms of its design and mechanics; it just needs to be made a bit slimmer to fit the guide of the AW-90.
The Dremel Stylo with a coarse sanding wheel and a sharp knife for the finer work got the job done.
This plastic spring with hexagon nut is held in the housing by a screw.
It holds the slider with pressure, which locks the battery holder.
Here you can see the position of the spring in the housing of the Auto Winder G.
The slider used in the AW-90.
The slider holds, but should still be pushed into the guide as far as it will go, as it is slightly shorter than the original.
The original slider is on the left, the replacement on the right.
The battery compartment can be reattached, and the AW-90 is ready for use
