Some times ago I bought a bottle of Kodak HC-110, CAT 5010541, expiration 2023-02. In october 2023 I mixed a stock solution with demineralized water and used it without issues. Since then, the stock solution bottle has been sitting 2/3 empty on a shelf.
According to the datasheet, the storage life of a half-filled bottle is no more than 2 months. I was about to throw away the remaining solution but ultimately decided to check with a clip test and the piece of film quickly turned black.

As I wanted to give HC-110 and fomapan 100 a try and had an exposed roll of not so important pictures taken in the neighbourhood, I developed the roll with this one year old solution : 6min at 20°c in dilution B, 30s initial agitation with the stick, 5s agitation every 30s still with the stick (6 half-turns).

It did developed the film and I was able to make a couple of prints, see attached. print of the bridge was at 60M on my jobo C660, 30M for the denser frame of the bycicle path. Paper is foma fomaspeed variant 312 17.8x24cm (7x9.5 inch).

I've been using mine for almost 2 years and bought it expired. I think it's at about 2/3rds, I do squeeze the air out of the bottle before capping it. It has some crystals in it (it came that way) and has gotten a little darker, but still works the same.

I've never heard any report of the reformulated HC-110 failing, even though it is not a syrup anymore. I'm in touch with a handful of photographers who are monitoring its longevity.

Nice prints that you made.

I think that the legendary longevity of old HC-110 - which was never reflected in the datasheets from Kodak, but became to be expected - tended to skew people's expectations about the current product.
These bottles - labelled "EXP 2009" - were photographed in 2015, and if they hadn't been used since, would probably still be usable, if the containers were still undamaged:

It is unlikely that they were designed to do that.
The new stuff is a lot easier and cheaper to make, and is designed for reasonable and competitive longevity. Not amazing longevity.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
