It’s been 3 since I started doing this, and I’m still at it! Once again, I am buying a bunch of film from Astrum and rolling it for folks in the US, this time with even more formats than last time!

Orders are now open! PM me and I’ll either add you to the discord or I’ll send you the link to the form on here if you would prefer that.

The films on offer:
  • Foto-100: a 100 ISO, extended red sensitivity film with a nice grain structure that captures detail well. Most likely Aviphot 200.
  • Foto-32: a low speed, high contrast, ortho-panchromatic (slightly red sensitive) film that has an extremely fine grain. Can be shot at EI 25-100. This is Kodak 2378 sound recording film, also sold as Washi-S, and Svema “blue sensitive”.
  • A-2SH: a 400 speed film made for areal photography. Contrast is punchy, but tonal range is still good, and details are picked up well. This film is not sold anywhere else as far as I know, and I am not 100% sure what emulsion this is.
  • Aerocolor: 125-speed color negative film with no orange mask. Rerolled by a lot of places but not offered in bulk. I’ll be offering 50 ft and 100 ft rolls.
Orders will stay open 2 weeks, and the film should be delivered by late June/early July.

Shipping cost is $20, this includes both the shared cost of shipping from Ukraine and shipping domestically when it gets here.

Formats available:

Foto-32:
35mm 36 exp. and bulk only

Aerocolor: 35mm bulk only

Foto-100
  • double perf 16mm rolls (non-perf may also be possible)
  • 35mm, 36 exp. and bulk
  • 127 (see note)
  • 620 (see note)
  • 120/220
  • Unperforated 70mm bulk rolls
  • Sheet films (4x5, 5x7, 8x10), ULF sizes and custom cut sheets available on request!
  • 7.5” rolls
  • 9.5” rolls
A-2SH
  • Double perf 16mm rolls
  • 35mm, 36, 72 exp., and bulk rolls
  • 127 (see note)
  • 620 (see note)
  • 120/220
  • Unperforated 70mm bulk rolls
  • 7.5” rolls
  • 9.5” rolls
Note: 127 and 620 will only be made if there is enough interest. Due to the way ordering the spools and paper works, 30 rolls of either format must be ordered, and there is a minimum of 10 rolls per format in the total order, not individually.

As an example, if 20 rolls of 127 and 10 rolls of 620 are ordered, both formats will be made. But, if 30 rolls of 127 are ordered and only 5 rolls of 620 are ordered, only 127 will be made.

Sorry for the long post, just trying to answer any questions pre-emotively.

But, if you have any questions still, feel free to ask! And if you are interested, please PM me! You can join the discord server here where the group is being organized (preferred) or you can chat here if you prefer.

Thanks!

I presume 122 format is out of the question.

What size film is that? 80mm? While I can’t get paper or spools for it, it’s possible I might be able to get a roll of film around the size needed.

I’ve been looking into getting a slitting machine to cut the larger areal roll films to odd sizes like that, but that’s probably a little ways off.

Oh yeah if it’s that size then I can get film that’s just a bit smaller in long rolls.

This is interesting, 122 was one of the biggest hits for George Eastman, the contact prints from the negatives of the Kodak Model 3A are stunning. Especially if a skilled operator used a tripod and had the best lens shutter combination. I have, I believe 5 spools with the backing papers. If the film was slit to the correct width, length wouldn't be a big issue. I have IR goggles so as long as the film isn't IR sensitive, then just a matter of assembly.
Now having said this I'm probably not going to fool with it. But you might be surprised how many people would be.
Film for Classics has offered 122 in the past, not sure what it would take today.

Closest I can get in size is 80mm. After that I can get 19 cm, 24 cm, and 32 cm rolls. Seems they mostly have the equipment to cut down areal rollfilm, and some stills formats.

At some point I’d like to get a large film slitter for the 24 cm rolls for making unusual rollfilm sizes, and I do know someone currently working on one, but that’s gonna take time.

And no, this film will not be affected by the 950nm illuminators that cheaper IR goggles use.
