Agreed, nice shot Stephen. Red filter?

Orange. I rarely use a red.

The luminance range would fit on a grade 2 paper if processed normally, but the broch would look flat, so the idea was to process it normally and use an unsharp mask to hold the range and print it on a grade 3 to bring out the mid-tones of the stones. I scan the negs now, so... This image has always been a challenge to find the right balance. I keep moving from a darker and dramatic look to a more realistic feel. Still working toward finding a happy middle.

Linhof Technikardan S45, Fujinon C 12.5/450, Linhof Techno Rollex, Agfa Copex Rapid, SPUR Dokuspeed SL-N. 4x10 crop of original frame.

The cars and people in-shot are an annoyance. There was nothing to be done about it though, as you get a constant stream of both coming and going. Shortly after making this exposure a huge lorry came and parked outside, so at least I avoided that!

In situations like that, try early in the morning before the buggers are up.

Interesting timing. While checking into Newstead Abbey, I found out they are hosting a music festival today.
