I've been shooting with a couple of Holga 120N's lately and have been enjoying it. Given this time of social distancing and not knowing when I'll get out again, I thought it would be nice to start a recent thread of Holga shots. I'll start.

Holga 120N with Ilford Ortho Plus film, long exposure with a Holgamods cable release attachment and a 4-stop ND filter.

Wow. Don't think I've seen a Holga image that large before. Nice and crisp in the middle, and then, um, field curvature much? Nice effect on this subject, though.

Wonderful shot @Jeremy Mudd! I'm almost at the tail-end of developing 93 rolls of film, of which quite a few were from my Holga, so hopefully I'll be in the darkroom later this week to get some printing done so I can share here.

This was shot during the early morning Blue Hour in Hamilton, Ohio on March 7th. 120 second exposure on Kodak Ektar film.

Jeremy, I think you're Holga's broken. Where are the light leaks? Film scratches? Focus errors and distortion?

Sometimes when you know the limitations of a toy camera, you can use it to great effect. Those two pictures are frugging excellent.

I am more a Diana F/F+ fun, but I got myself Holga again couple of days ago. My version is 120SF, with flash, but no bulb option. I will post some when I test it and develop .

Yeah maybe I shouldn't have been so specific with the tread title - I think any HOLGA should be included in the thread. Sorry about that!

No worries, I will post some. BTW I have got worse pictures from my Rolleiflex than those you got from Holga, really nice work .

I'll keep it going by adding another. I could use the distraction today.

This was actually shot on the same day as the first waterfall shot I posted, about 6 miles from that location. This is a small waterfall that's located at the edge of a cemetery in Springfield, Ohio. Shot on Kodak Ektar film, approximately a 10 second exposure with a 4-stop ND filter.

These outstanding photos are confusing me. I thought the greatness of a photo was based solely on corner sharpness, dynamic range, and other technical measurements. Can someone please explain this to me?

It reminds me of the times I have heard an amazing musician pick up a beat up, old, impossible to tune guitar. It somehow always sounds better than an amateur with a $5,000 guitar.

Long, long ago I learned a saying: "It's a poor workman who blames his tools." I always took it to mean your skill means more than the quality of the tools you have at hand.

Pure bunk. I can give first hand experiences that prove that "It's a poor workman who blames his tools." is often used by people do not want to find out about the facts.

And I've seen many examples, firsthand, that support the statement. Like anything else, it's neither universally true, nor completely false.

If you say so. If there is a medical emergency, no one is going to ask if anyone in the room has any expensive medical equipment. They are going to ask if there is a doctor in the room.

Who, hopefully, isn't a podiatrist when the patient is suffering a heart attack.
Tools have their value.
A good knowledge of the limitations and strengths of one's tools can lead to wonderful results.

I'd still rather have a podiatrist than a waitress with a defibrillator.

Tools do matter, of course, but not nearly as much as knowledge, experience and skill.
