Eleventh Card in today. Howard Earl's - 'Barber Shop NYC'. Another card that has ongoing attention on the fridge for the family to comment on. Unfortunately no visitors coming or going for the obvious reasons to comment.

I also received Howard's Barbershop. Very nice, it looks like a shop in a historic village. And I'm guessing the negative involved a mask when being contacted. I contacted a 4x5 neg onto some cards, but the non-neg part of the card was black, not white. Nicely done.

A few cards have been accumulating on my desk over the past couple weeks:

Stay right there! - I’m not sure what the imperfections are that you are referring too – it looks pretty great to me. You’ve captured his expression and gesture at just the right moment.

awty Self Portrait in Wire – Brilliant idea and very cheerful expression. It doesn’t seem like anyone else mentioned it, but I can distinctly make out a bird hanging on a perch, suspiciously positioned in the centre of the cranium! The surrounding wires that make up the head make for a nice birdcage. I think you’re perhaps a bit too harsh though – if you can figure out how to sculpt with wire and photograph it from an appropriate angle, then you must be cleverer than you insinuate! Lots to think about (and also to chuckle about!)

Wayne FrederickWillard Beach – I really enjoyed reading about your process – sounds fun! The image has an interesting texture of speckled white spots – do you think this is a result of processing the film with the backing paper attached?

Rowreidr The buoy wall and Fish Bar at Pier 81 in NYC – I like the square composition. Lots of interesting textures.

Thanks all!

Hi Terry S,

The photographic evidence of your anti-gravity water adventures makes for a nice little postcard with a nice little story.

I have been using my Olympus XA basically as a point and shoot for stealth and speed on the street and hope to get some good postcard material out of it too.

Your teaspoon formula D72 sounds very intrigueing. I have just ordered 4 liters of Ilford MG developer but wouldn't mind trying D72 for a change.

Thanks for your efforts and stay safe!

Yesterday, I discovered Howard Earl's Barbershop in my mailbox.

A very, very nice photo with many interesting details. I cleaned my glasses just to be able to enjoy all the details. I love the lighting into the barbershop.
What I like the most is that people are shown here. People who even smile at the viewer. Thanks a lot for that!

Yesterday, I discovered Howard Earl's Barbershop in my mailbox.

Same here. It really looks like a photo from ancient times. I wonder how old it really is. Best wishes to all the people in NYC and elsewhere in the world!

A bunch of postcards hit my letterbox in the last two weeks:
Drpsilver - Gooseberry Falls - I like the effect very much, when long exposure times convert the waterfall in a mystic place.
Iandvaag - Phalaenopsis - nicely photographed, in the meantime the garden season starts here
Graciemanison - Midtown Manhattan - I like the reflection of the buildingsin the shop window
hwv - 3 cubes, 3 lines, one arc - geometric shapes, but not positioned symmetric
Lucid - To Osa´s Island - a charming place. And the weather is not too bad, too!
Black Dog - pool in a field - a rural place to relax, arrived today

I received iandvaag's nice low key orchid photo Phalaenopsis. A different approach, and very nicely executed. All I have to do now is learn how to spell and pronounce the title!

Phalaenospsis, my spell check wants to spell the word differently, but the photo is the final truth, and a few of the flowers in our garden have bloomed early also.

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well in these trying times.

My home office desk presently is the drop table from my De Vere 507. This is probably the most use it's seen in recent years!

I've received some very nice cards in the post. My thanks to all!

@iandvaag - A great image with an almost 3D quality about it. I love the highlights on the edge of the petals.

@Black Dog - It appears your subject was already social isolating before the rest us! A nice image and the colour postcard is refreshing.

@Howard Earl - Another great contact print in the current exchange. A well composed image with many details to enjoy.

I'm up to 13 postcards now. Keep em' coming!

Thanks-people just can't tear themselves away from their phones sometimes. Not that I'm complaining as it's a habit that can always yield interesting images.

Thanks! ISTR I sent you the horizontal version (and thanks to the girl in the cream jacket as well!)
Graciemansions-Reflections in a shop window. Exactly the kind of what is it or what else is it detail I appreciate, however often it may have been done before you can always find something else to see.
BSP-Posts on a beach. Totem poles or ranks of people perhaps, like the famous Anthony Gormley figures, Again another detail waiting to be noticed by an observant photographer.

Folks, unfortunately I’m going to have to bow out of this round. I’m going to save the list and when taking part in the next round I’ll print double.

I am a high school photo teacher and I utilize our school darkroom for all of my work. With COVID and the extended closings around the country, we went from a distance model where teachers could access the building, to a complete shut down. I am barred from the space as each building has received a complete cleaning and disinfection.

My deepest apologies , every time I open my mailbox and see a card I feel elated and terrible at all once.

How about mailing your negative to me and I'll print them for you and send them back. You'll not have made the prints, but you'll have sent prints out and not be able to feel bad (which you should not in light of the circumstances). Whaddayathink? Just an idea.

That’s not a bad idea but I’d certainly want to find a way to compensate for time and materials.
