There are few books on camera repair, but one is definitely missing

Namely, the book that also deals with the repair of electronically controlled cameras. As far as that is reasonably feasible.

There is sufficient information on this topic in the SPT Edition and in the available editions of the C & C Associated Electronic Troubleshooting Guides. One could compile general instructions from these, with references to the source, of course.

An alternative would be shorter treatises on individual camera models.

The aim is not to explain the circuitry of these cameras, but to solve common errors.

Since my contributions on this topic here on PHOTRIO receive numerous views but rarely any comments, am I perhaps the only one who sees a need for action here? 😌

Or are books on a specific subject no longer state-of-the-art? Because the target audience prefers to consume other media for information?

Note: I'm concerned with the subject matter, not with aiming any commercial success.

I see this topic needs more PR 😝

I'll continue with the Minolta 5000 AF and the Canon T90, or vice versa.

The 5000 is very similar to the 7000 AF which we already have discussed.

And the T90 finally needs to be freed from HELP and EEE.

This individual has shared notes in the form of an iFixit wiki:

Because web sites can simply vanish, I wouldn't regard the info as "archival", but I found it helpful when I was servicing a Pentax MZ-3, which is similar to USA ZX-series cameras.
