Was Kodak Gold 100 Discontinued?

I noticed no stores have this film anymore that used to carry it and its not on Kodaks website anymore. Was this film officially discontinued? I don't see any announcement on it. This was one of my favorite films, though Portra 160 VC and Ektar 100 can do better.

I don't know the official situation. I do know that I too miss this film. I have been using the 200 speed stuff for a while. Luckily, it is still readily available at local discount retailers and I cannot really see much difference between it and the 100 which is long gone from the local retailers.

Haven't tried Ektar. From what I've seen, I don't think I'd like the color response. Portra NC160 is too...dull for my tastes. Fujicolor HQ 200 is also nice, available and cheap.

Dead Link Removed appears to have both Fuji Superia and Kodak Gold 100-speed color print films, as well as Reala and Ektar 100.

Surprised to see Superia 100 for sale in the link. I thought it had been discontinued a few years back and replaced with the budget Fujicolor 100.

I have a letter from Kodak that indicates that Gold 100 is still being made, although it is not being distributed in North America. So it's still out there, but it is not easy to find.

Gold 100 was one of the consumer films that I sometimes used in the past on the rare occasions when I wanted color, and I'm sorry to hear that it is no longer distributed in North America. Is Gold 200 really good enough to replace it?

These films are treated much the same in the Kodak Tech Bulletin. The main difference appears to be a very slight difference in print grain index.

I was told by what I considered a reliable source back in the 80's that they were the same film, but with an ND layer in the 100. That should be treated as hearsay at this point, especially since both films probably underwent changes since that time.

I do notice that current Gold 200 is noticeably less grainy than it was 10 years ago. Maybe, that is the process...maybe it is the film stock.

I just got back from a local store that sells it as the cheapest film even though it is imported. Its about 1.50 a roll. Owner says America is still sending him fresh rolls.
