I have a Widelux in need of CLA (typical Widelux banding) and I was wondering about where to send it, preferably somewhere within the EU since I don’t want the hassle of going through customs. Is there anyone who can recommend me a place that service Widelux?

If you do not have film in the WideLux fire then cock the lens 100 to 300 times to move the lubricant around. Also part way cock the lens and move it back and forth many times before finishing the cocking. Best of luck finding service in the EU. It will be good to learn about who and where in the EU WideLux service can be found.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that.
As to the availability of a Widelux repair service in the EU I'm not too hopeful but hope springs eternal.

I have no idea, but have you heard about the project of Silvergrain classics together with some actor from the USA to bring back the Widelux? It will be completely made in Germany.

They might be willing you to give some names, is there are any technicians in Europe that work on them.

Hello,
I also have a widelux that needs to be serviced, and seems that there are no trained technicians here in Italy. I recently came across this website https://mondepanneur.fr/
I don't have any direct feedback, but maybe you can try to find or ask for some on the web

Thanks for the link to the french site. It seems like a good place to contact.

I have heard about the project to bring back the Widelux and I keep my eyes on any news as to the expected price.

My repair person, an enthusiast of precision mechanics and top tier cameras, never got is hands on a Widelux until I sent him mine. He partly diassembled it for lubrication (which unfortunately has not fixed all the problems) and called me to tell how excited he was by the superb quality and precision of the camera! I told him about the new Widelux project, but he says that it would be very difficult nowadays to replicate such cameras.... I too keep an eye on the progress of the project, though

Jesper, I also need to have my Widelux serviced, I'd be grateful if you would remember to come back here and report of any repairmen that succesfully worked on your unit. Thank you!

Hello everyone
Since Laurie Rogers (Camera Clinic in Melbourne) retired in April 2022, I've started getting Australian photographers to contact me; customs problems are a pain, but we get there!
Still on the subject of Widelux camera repairs, I can't get in touch with Bob WATKINS.
Bob is located in Lakeway, Texas https://www.precisioncameraworks.com/
He no longer responds to emails and a friend tried to reach him by phone without success (847-470-3350).
Do any of you have a way of finding out what's going on? Perhaps he has health problems?
When someone living on the American continent contacted me to have their Widelux serviced, I sent them to Bob. It's geographically closer and avoids the hassle of dealing with customs.
But if Bob doesn't answer! I can't leave people without a solution.
So if anyone knows anything about Bob...

Hello Philippe, what a pleasure to read your message, I'm so glad that you've found this thread and chimed in! Prepare yourself psychologically to receive my Widelux for repair! 😄

I don't know anyone of the other repairmen about whom you are asking, I'm afraid...

I have gotten great service from Tempe Camera Repair https://www.tempecamera.biz/REPAIR_DEPARTMENT_s/17.htm for my WideLux servicing in the US.

Just a heads up from the Moderators.
Normally we delete telephone numbers included in public posts - we don't want to encourage scammers and telephone spammers.
We have left in place the number for Precision Camera Repairs in Phillipe's post, only because that number is listed on Precision Camera Repairs' website.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that their phone number was mentioned in my post, just copied and pasted their website adres and apparently more came along...

Hi everyone,
eventually, I had my Widelux F8 repaired to perfection by my trusted repairman Sandro Presta of Laboratorio Fotografico Ligure (Italy)
He is an accurate and passionate technician; he completely disassembled the camera and solved the banding and spacing problems between frames. Apparently they were caused by pins that had worn out their housing and therefore turned eccentrically... He rebuilt the worn parts and now everything works perfectly
You can contact him here https://www.facebook.com/laboratoriofotograficoligure/?locale=it_IT

Does he also have a shop with an address, a phone number and regular hours?

Ciao Marco,
I understand It Is not allowed to share phone numbers here.

If you like, I can share his contact details in a private message. I could also post here a price list with main services performed. It Is open to the public, but again it shows the cell number, so I am reluctant to put It here, unless the mods agree.

@brancaleone It's OK to link to e.g. a web page with information such as phone numbers as long as the web page is maintained by the person who owns the phone connection involved. It's also OK to share a phone number if it's used for business purposes exclusively; with a cell phone number I'd be very reluctant, since these are usually also privately used. In this case, I would be hesitant to share Sandro's cell phone number here.
It's OK if you send it through private messaging.

Hello @koraks ,
thank you for the clarification. Sandro's number is on the price list that he publicly shares. If you don't mind, I will send a copy via private message to both you and @Marco Gilardetti . You may then check if It Is ok to publish the contact details here.
