I've had a big order of Adox products on order from the US distributor for sale at my shop since early May. Estimated delivery date got pushed now to early August. The word I got on the other end is that Freestyle isn't even placing orders with Adox to stock their products.

Why would their exclusive US distributor no longer place orders at Adox?
First thought then is that Freestyle broke that business relation, and only are awaiting delivery of old, due orders.

Fotoimpex won't sell to me, and neither with Adox. I very much want to carry Adox films and chemistry because I really think they're excellent. It just seems like they have no interest in the US market. My emails with Adox and Fotoimpex have gone exactly nowhere. It's quite frustrating. I may simply have to cancel my large order from Freestyle and give up on the idea.

I found the same thing when talking to Fotoimpex/Adox about stocking Adox products at Photo Retro. They just didn’t seem like they wanted to follow up.

On the same note, Fotoimpex seemed like they wanted to stock my dry plates, said they were putting together a purchase order, and then just never placed the order.

Definitely act like they’re not interested in the US market.

It might simply be too much bother and they are for one reason or another not willing to outright say it.
Exporting to the US can be a huge pain for a small manufacturer.

Understandable, but the teasing and stringing along wasn’t. In my case, it was going both ways. If you don’t want to buy something, just say it. Don’t promise and then ghost the business you’re negotiating with.

Saying “no” while they decide and survey the situation can have pretty binary and permanent results.

Definitely FPP is repackaged stuff. I had it developed in regular c41 process.

So Helios is a brand spankin' new ISO 3 film? Not a repackage? A film mfg decides to make a brand new film for consumer use and decides on ISO 3?
That's the bit I don't understand. I do understand repackaging an existing and readily available ISO 3 film to raise funds to finance the new ISO 200 film.

Because they have to invent the wheel again. This product is an important step in between. Going from iso 3 to iso 100 involves a lot more research (=more money)
I think it is really great that they already came so far.

At least that is Mirko's saying. But he also said that with their partner of the past they had already been at 200 ISO.
Thus we are now at that grey zone of what expertise the Adox team has without bought-in expertise from outside.

Well they could allow Fotoimpex to sell it to me, but they won't. Our lab is a 2 person team. We do literally everything including shipping little 4x4x4 boxes of people's film all over the country. Surely someone at Adox could box up 500 rolls of film and a 2nd box of XT3 to send to the USA?

If they are constrained at production, it doesn’t make sense for them to supply large quantities to other resalers. They would probably want to sell all their priducts at their own shop where people will also buy products from other manufacturers where they also earn a healthy margin…

So basically even when it comes out, those of us in the USA will never see it?

It means it may be fastest, easiest, perhaps even cheapest (if you order enough stuff), to order from fotoimpex.com, Adox's direct storefront, with the only real added headache being having to deal with DHL (which doesn't seem to be a problem for most everyone else that I talk to) and, I suppose, having to convert from Euro to USD.

I say 'may' because I don't know what Adox's plans are for distributing to the US market. I would expect Freestyle to continue to be their official US distribution but I have no idea.

Fotoimpex could establish a warehouse of their own in the USA.

BUT this likely would mean that customers would expect their complete german offer also be presented in the USA. And also expect a US callcenter. Thus then basically they would have to start a complete online store against already longtime established competition.

....at the same prices like now!

Now that's an improvement. Delivery in a few days makes it reasonable to pay some shipping, especially for products not available from US retailers.

I was checking the Fotoimpex website randomly last week en suddenly saw Colour Mission was in stock again. Never saw it in stock, so I ordered 3 rolls. I hardly shoot 35mm, but I am curious to try this film.

what type of film is the color mission and which bancrupt company made it? New right but hardly new emulsion.
best would be agfa producing all sizes of their genious X-line x100 and x400. 35/120 longroll 61.5mm. easy making 220 or using longroll. we only need paper maybe unprinted neutral one. macos digibase 200 seem to be based upon the x100 only maco doesnt want to confess. they finally had huge rolls of 61.5mm. they could have been cut into 30.5m. i already contacted ilford about 70mm and paper. they want to stop production.

According to Adox, it’s completely new.

That is really extremely easy. And you can answer your question even by yourself if you think logically:
What color film producers do we have?
Kodak, Fuji, Polaroid, InovisCoat.
And which of them has gone into insolvency recently? Just have a look here on photrio in the "Industry News" subforum. There you will find your answer.........😀.

Don't you think that Ilford is just selling off old stocks of 70mm? I would be amazed if there's much demand.

so what b+w can be stored for a long time. still have a lot of old 70mm incl. color. the sales-conditions for 70mm is insane., no wonder they want to stop. always had been irrearistic. mind order a big joke. once bought for roundshot 10pcs xrs 400 agfa 70mm still have. 30.5m rolls.
