Well guys, finally, a milestone reached -- no more Alpha. Now we have the true P30 in sale. Good news.

PE

I assure you, dear PE; that you will be eternal in this forum and all the other analog photography forums that might be created in the future.

Where did you get this information, please?

film boxes shown at the Italian Camera store have a blank square where the Alpha Batch said "Alpha." Not clear if that just means we are into "Beta" or if it is production ready. Some of the other posts did indicate that the formula was "changed - but still silver rich"

Hardly, but thanks.

Dear Ron, let me explain my choice of words:

I frequent other forums, one of them is a forum dedicated to audio electronics. A forum member named "Zilch", there, posted a ton of valuable articles, graphics, information, tests, on the topic of speaker building. We know nobody on this planet is going to be alive forever. Zilch passed away in 2011. Somebody opened an eulogy thread/topic, it got 26 pages immediately. It was even mentioned in another related forum.

All the good material put out by Zilch got duly organized and collected, and his posts, graphs, etc. are often referenced in new posts, even today (2019). Not only in one online forum but at least two.

I think good friendship, even through the internet, endures through afterlife.

Regards,
Flavio.

Exactly, that's why in theory this means "no more alpha".

but still silver rich"

Thanks to PE's writings, now I know that the "silver rich" marketing word is meaningless and won't be indicative of increased image quality or increased density.

Ron (PE),
How about: "the value of your contributions will outlast even the longest Kodachrome thread"?:whistling::D

Thanks to all of you. I will not last forever, nor will any of the dyes in any color product by any manufacturer.

Best wishes to you all.

PE,
Your words here likely will last as long as our civilisation does.

My dad was an engineer who in the last 30 years of his life worked on hundreds of European and ISO standards for furniture safety. His legacy lives on in every single office chair with a gas lift, every bunk bed with a safely designed rail which prevents the user from both rolling out and from hanging themselves by getting under the rail, the fact that glass topped tables no longer shatter. He tested that by getting one specially made from the same glass as used in jet fighter canopies, and jumping up and down on the table. Errr...that table lives on in my mother's living room!....and thousands of other everyday items. He also had a penchant for vintage three-wheel Morgan cars and last time I heard is still talked about in those circles for some of the more unusual modifications he made to his vehicle.

PE, your wealth of knowledge and your willingness to share it here will be remembered as long as this forum exists. We all owe you our gratitude.

So today I finally made to develop a roll of Agfaphoto CT Precisa dia film made by Ferrania (the made in Italy one with the yellow boat), which should be quite close to what they were hoping to produce, and I found it quite lovely film. It is 11 years expired but kept frozen and it does not seem to have any strong color casts. I liked the colors a lot and I find it a tad different from the "new" CT Precisa/Provia.
I really do hope they can bring it back someday, it would be a very nice addition to my toolbox. (Sorry for the bad image, a couple scans will follow when I have a bit of time)

That's great Matt; also I shot my first roll of P30 the other week. Not the best weather but I'm sure I'll get something interesting!

It appears that the news blackout is over, which is good news. Eager to hear installment #2, next week.

Yep, and I hope these weekly videos culminate with a final video announcing the global release of P30. That would be sweet. In 120, please.

It's really cool to get some background information, I find it interesting. I'm glad they are getting closer to releasing the film because I'll need to restock - I have set aside two of my P30 alpha rolls for a couple student techs I worked with who recently got into film.

the story so far recapped with no basic changes, nothing earth shateringly new, no surprises there. first glimpse of a 120 P30 film box. but not of any actual film. will be waiting with patience for the next installment.
Well at least 135 format is available in Italy.
Looks like their online store is reopening in Janurary and wouldnt be surprised if their next announcement is P30 will be available in 120 format.

Great to see the video and hear the explanations. I look forward to the next video.

I have been in business myself for 34 years and I know that in business you can never rely on a gentleman's agreement.

I find it foolish that they did reply on TWO. (BTW I am not being negative, no pun, but I find it hard to take a business seriously if they make such simple poor judgements. It is does not build confidence)

On a positive note, again no pun, I am delighted to see that they will be doing in house what was to be done in "the gentleman's agreement."

I expect there was little time to put a binding contract together in those early days...
