I mean, I was puzzled because I would call Kodak Ektachrome 100 base... brown. Or is my memory faulty?

I'm not at home and can't take a look at E100 that's the only slide film I have at the moment. Were E-6 films always of some other, distinctive colour?

BTW, what is the base colour of P30/Orto?

Provia is certainly brown (the base is colourless, but it has a 'yellow' filter layer under the yellow emulsion, which is washed out in processing to leave you clear slides)

I asked Freestyle when they would get P30 in 120 back in stock and the reply was, "There is a chance it may come in today but likely not until next week."

And Colour film sometimes uses a silver layer as it's Anti-Halo solution between the active layers and the base. the silver being removed at the same time as the bleach and fix remove the rest of the silver. that can made the back of a colour film look very dark before processing.

At least 5 years of it ..... "Back in 2018 ...."
sorry if I created a monster.... , I am amazed that the thread has taken such a life. Although on the positive side, almost everything about Ferrania has ended up in this one place.

Going out tomorrow with a roll of 120 P30! Love the 35mm version and can't wait to see it in 120. Hopefully sheet film will happen soon! Same with Orto 50.

I'll be looking forward to your video! You've been a huge help in the last couple years, and I'm getting a real urge to try it in the Mamiya TLR and Bessa 6x9 to see how it compares with PanF.

My friend will be driving over his circa 1940 red Ford sedan. Can't wait to see how P30 renders it!

It does seem Ferrania are in continuous production now, and also expanding product offerings. Maybe it’s time to rewrite the title of this thread one last time? 🎆🎉🙌

Actually, I've been considering locking this thread, and then starting a new one with a link back to this one. Any thoughts?

If they go for Color and manage to iterate until a decent film, that will be quite interesting! Aside of Kodak and Fuji then we'd have the Agfa+ branched companies being Inoviscoat-Orwo and Adox. Perhaps Adox's color derivates more from Ilford Ciba than Agfa. But still ,teh change of the market has made it interesting for these companies to R&D their way up color films.

Do keep the knowledge. I know the Kodachrome thread devolved with years, but there was a lot of very interesting knowledge in it; specially PE explaining ad nauseam why Kodachrome could not be manufactured in a barn.

Not a moderator but either alternatives seem interesting. I ahve thread through this thread back in the day, but perhaps now we have another phase for Ferrania with the B&W films consolidated in production.

Do keep the knowledge.

No question about that.
The reasons to lock and start a new one would include:
1) the reference to 2018 in the title may confuse new viewers about the currency of the thread; and
2) the problems connected with how unwieldy a nearly 1300 post thread can be.

Lets lock it with a link as you suggested, in the new thread, which should have a positive title.

Ferrania hope to be in production fall of 2028 🤣
Couldn't resist 😉

Maybe you could start with your experience with 120 P30?

I shot a roll today so, we'll see...
