Even if we can no longer repair the newer cameras, apart from simple cases, we should not give up on electronic cameras.
Every camera has strengths and weaknesses in terms of the durability of its construction.
Fortunately, you can concentrate on the (few) weaknesses and look for solutions.
With the Minolta X-700 eg., it is often defective electrolytic capacitors that can be replaced.
With the Nikon F3 and F4, it is defective LCDs which can be replaced by good ones from abandoned cameras or, with the latter, problems with the aperture mechanism, which can be cured.
In my experience, other problems are rare here, unless the cameras have been damaged by falls or water.
And it will be the same with later cameras.
As long as you can use spare parts from abandoned cameras, you have a chance.
The end is when you need special test equipment or software for calibration and adjustment.
This starts with the Nikon F with the F4 from 1988, whose AF system cannot be adjusted any other way.
Therefore, you should sanctify the factory settings and never change them without reason.
