Cannot believe I'm letting this gem go, but it's time.
This is a Canon A1, the upgraded AE1, with many modes. It is in really wonderful operating condition, which is to say it has NO LIGHT LEAKS, makes proper exposures and does NOT HAVE that annoying squeal which usually indicates these are about to die.
And, at NO EXTRA CHARGE it comes with a really cool "hippie" strap. Why it's called that I'll never know -- it's woven and multi-colored. Does this bring up memories of The Summer of Love to You? Whatever. FREE, no extra charge.
The good: As I said, it works really well. Shot a sample roll and every exposure was as good as the program mode could handle. Other modes include shutter AND aperture automatic, AND manual. Gotta have manual. Butkus has the manual for free.
NEW battery.
It comes with a very nice Canon FD f 1.8 50mm lens. Really, a very fine optic. Very clean, clear, no fungus, rot, Commie tendencies or bad vibes.
It has some very nice "pro look" brassing. This is not fake brassing done at the factory or -- horror! -- with sandpaper at home by some poser. No, this is honest use brassing.
No dents. No dings. Non-smoking home. Its karma is positive.
The Bad:
The only flaw is that the plastic latch that holds the battery compartment shut is broken, so the battery door flops open. This has been expertly repaired with professional application of the finest duct tape available from the roll on top of my fridge. Let's be honest, it wouldn't be pro gear if it didn't include duct tape, right? I used silver, but black is always an option.
Great little shooter for a student, for casual banging around town street shooting, for taking camping or river running, for taking out and admiring the weave of the duct tape, whatever.
So: Asking $100, but this includes the body AND the lens AND the duct tape AND a fresh battery (bought it last month) AND that really impressive hippie strap AND shipping to you anywhere the US Postal Service delivers in the United States.
