I'm actually holding out for a Triad Fotron, preferably nrfb, with all the accessories.

Almost forgot about the Minox AX in black. I found one in 2001 but it was gone before I could buy it. Maybe some day I'll find another.

I've never seen one of those in person but they sure look the business.

I have a dream lens that doesn't exist - a prime 135mm, preferably in Canon EF mount, maximum aperture somewhere between f/2 and f/2.8, with image stabilization.

Closest thing I've found is the stabilized Tamron 85mm f/1.8 (not quite long enough), and the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS (too big, too expensive, don't like the white color).

Now that Canon has switched to mirrorless, I don't think the chances of it being made are very high.

I'm not sure I have a dream camera that I don't own. If a Linhof 612 PC dropped into my lap, I would be thankful. When I see a forSale listing for a Leica M-4, I might peer at a little bit.

Mostly, I have enough cameras.

'dream' camera is too strong of a term, but since my Hasselblads don't have AF, I wouldn't mind having a Mamiya 645AFD and a couple of lenses (45, 80, 150). But then, I'm not even using enough of what I already own. So, NO

Are there no third party lenses and adapters for a V model, with AF built in the lens?

Having a linhof 612 dropped into your lap might hurt a little....
I suppose it would be worth it

Not particularly exotic, but I'd love a 645 camera; have been researching them and not sure exactly which model, but I just love the look of the bodies and what they can create.

I have Leica m3 single stroke. I take a few every week so it takes awhile to get through an 36 roll. When I look at the images I wonder why I don’t dump the digi.

I was gifted it a few years ago. I will never sell it, but when my time comes I will make sure it is passed on to a like minded younger person. Basically I am borrowing it from the next guy.

A great gift and the positive future disposition for a great camera.

German built, analog Leica(s) are simply a pleasure to the heart and to the hand and eye and, IMO, those aspects makes them stand out among the great 135 format cameras.

Try making a practice of using one half of whatever factory loaded film cartridge you're shooting in general, regardless of original frame count, by unspooling half the film the darkroom, tent, bag, by hand and an immediate respooling the loose film onto a reloadable cassette.

Just tape the roll film length back, in onto the new spool and when you develop the roll, cleanly snip the leader plus whatever waste film, squarely, so the second half roll can be taped/joined to the still waiting fresh film, using paper tape and the original factory cartridge.

Earlier on this thread, I mentioned the Swiss Alpa. The location of the film advance system makes sense to me. But too many Alpa cameras that are for sale are inoperable. Many years ago I had a friend at Leitz who would fix cameras for me…if they were either German or Japanese, but he would not touch a Swiss camera. He remarked that the way of thinking of Swiss engineering was alien to him. So I fear if I did buy an Alpa, would I be able to get it repaired. Somewhat like my Hasselblad 2000FCM…like Wotan awaiting the destruction of Valhalla.

There is an M4 for sale in what appears to be quite clean condition for $1000 on the Rangefinder Forum

When I was a teenager, I dreamed of owning a 1969 Corvette convertable. Many years later when I finally bought one, I realized that some dreams are, perhaps, better left unrealized. The dream was much better than the reality. Same experience with Leica rangefinder cameras - what a huge disappointment.

When I was a teenager I wanted the Bronica S over any other camera; as an adult about ten years before I retired, I settled for a Hasselblad 503 CX with seven lenses, 2XE extender, extension tubes, and a Hasselblad 903 SWC. I have managed to make due with those since then.

I think a lot of things are like that for some people (I’m in that camp) - although I must admit Leicas have been the few things that actually haven’t disappointed me for some reason. I’ve never actually owned one myself but my father always had one (M3-M4 before my time, R3, R4, R9). I basically learnt photography on the R4 and I still borrow the R9. It’s got nothing to do with optical quality or anything like that. I’ve just always enjoyed the tactile experience.

As for dream cameras, maybe a Linhof TK45s, though I suspect I’d find things wrong and be disappointed. My “ideal” 4x5 just doesn’t exist.

I only had one Leica SLR - a Leicaflex SL. It did not disappoint.
My disappointment is with the Leica rangefinders.
