There are many introductions to analog and digital electronics, but not all of them are written in a way that makes them clear and easy to understand, without assuming prior knowledge or leaving important things unexplained.

A book that, for me, meets these requirements is

Practical Electronics: A Complete Introduction: Teach Yourself by Andy Cooper

I am currently using it to refresh my electronics knowledge so that I can then delve deeper into camera circuits, as far as this is possible with the documentation provided.

I would highly recommend it as a book for getting started on the subject.

For me the reference is The Art of Electronics, by Horowitz & Hill. Not really at the level of fixya or instructables. But very clear, and grounded in experience. I was fortunate to grab a copy a the local charity for 5 or 10€.

When reading this book, I get the impression that they assume a lot of things that a beginner cannot know, so I would only recommend it to advanced readers as a rich source.

Do you have "Lesson 11: Photographic Electricity" ? If so, is it any good?
