I bought a new D6 and a used D6 (from MAP camera, what a great vendor) . I am not political here, I just love Japan made products. I have a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek XV Limited, I know it's not a Porsche (cars of my dreams) but I love it.

There are certain countries who, on the whole which I think treat workers and capital in ways more to my liking.

I have China made products that are wonderful. Don't read anything political or prejudicial into this.

I love everyone, especially Canada as I will soon be parking my 1973 Winnebago RV in Matt King's driveway for the summer.

Great. I share a lot your thinking as far as the treatment of workers goes. Whenever possible I try to buy from companies and countries where I feel the workers get proper benefits and wages. I sincerely believe the quest for the lowest possible price comes at the cost of workers in most cases. It is certainly not management that is tightening their belts to deliver bargains. Jack Welch said it all when he made it clear that his company's first obligation was to the shareholder, not the customer. And certainly not the employees. Sadly, that is the model for most of today's corporations.

First although you can still buy the D6 new I don't think Nikon makes it any more so I may not count it as current product. Second because MSHChem expected a Nikon to be made in Japan.
I prefer to a company to make the products either in their own country or a country that is closer to where they sell the products not further away because the labor is cheaper. I prefer to pay a larger percentage of the price of the products to the people who make them.

If you ever want a Seiko and start shopping you will find they still make them in Japan. But they make millions of watches per year and some of them are made elsewhere. It‘s easy to check if the watch was made in Japan if that’s a feature you value. (I value it too btw and for similar non-political reasons to yours.) I also like buying products from vertically integrated companies that are at the top of their game, as Seiko certainly is.

My Seiko diver (Japan) has been happily ticking away on my wrist since 1992 and I love it.
