There's also a legal maxim, "De minimis non curat lex" - the law doesn't concern itself with trifles.

Hmm, I've got to wonder if this is like a repeat of that "supply chain issues" line where companies see an opportunity to start baking in a higher revenue stream (there were a lot of legitimate supply chain issues, but I think that also started getting used as a catch-all of convenience).

Goat cheese is delicious. I just visited a relative who keeps around 10 of them, it's crazy what they can climb on. But I especially like imported soft sheep's milk feta. American feta has not yet reached high standards.

For several months the Canadian product wasn't available, Costco was substituting cheap domestic stuff . And yes cheese from sheep milk is delicious. There's a fellow, I drove by his place for years, he raised goats, but not for milk.......

Ablative, like the heatshield on Spacex Dragon! Got it. Remember that many of us are the product of the American education system. And it's persnickety in the USA!

You don;t get rich selling onesies to individual end purchasers. You want to sell packets of 500 to middlemen. Then tariffs are due. In any case, once the de minimus ends on May 2, even the onesies will be charged the tariff.

Exactly right—unless you’re a foreign based importer or distributor, which is a thing But the larger issue of the moment remains one of practicality and logistics. Ending the exemption may likely force formal “entry” of even singular e-commerce purchases {or, say, “gifts”). No entity in the supply chain is ready for this. Not customs. Not USPS. Not private carriers. This is going to be incredibly disruptive If that May 2nd date holds.

BEIJING (Reuters) -DHL Express, a division of Germany's Deutsche Post, said it would suspend global business-to-consumer shipments worth over $800 to individuals in the United States from April 21, as U.S. customs regulatory changes have lengthened clearance.

The notice on the company website was not dated, but its metadata showed it was compiled on Saturday.

DHL blamed the halt on new U.S. customs rules which require formal entry processing on all shipments worth over $800. The minimum had been $2,500 until a change on April 5.

DHL said business-to-business shipments would not be suspended but could face delays. Shipments under $800 to either businesses or consumers were not affected by the changes....

I just read that the USPS will charge a minimum $100 fee for items sent from China, going up to $200 in June.

DHL Express is suspending deliveries to the US worth more than $800 (£603) because of a "significant increase" in red tape at customs following the introduction of Donald Trump's new tariff regime.

The delivery giant said it will temporarily stop shipments from companies in all countries to American consumers on Monday "until further notice".
