Anyone know where I can get the programs?
Are they on US iTunes? Anyone can check for me before I try to dig out my old forgotten password?
There appears to be a lot of interesting stuff there that is just gone. Including two interviews with Photo Engineer.

Scott has stopped broadcasting and there are at least 2 "in the can". I cannot answer because I am out of touch with Scott.

I just did a bit more digging.

Seems he was quite a special guy with a huge production of interesting podcasts.
He also seems to have left quite an impression on the people he was in touch with.
Very sad that he appears to have just disappeared like he did for a lot of his old friends, during his illness and death.

And very sad/vexing for us who did not know him, but can see the potential in his podcasts from the titles.

A call to anyone who might have some of his old programs laying about on some kind of media, or even better know who to contact to have the original files freed from his computer.
I understand that there is even an unpublished interview that many here would find very interesting.
Scott would have wanted his programs to live on, I'm sure.

If you do have some of, or all of the podcasts please contact me by PM and I'll go through the hassle of distributing them, or find a permanent (as can be) server to host them.
It seems a lot of them are too important and interesting to just let slip into entropy.

I take it he was a "one-man band" as we say in the U.K. i.e. he did everything himself. If there had been others involved you would have thought that at least there would have been an announcement of its cessation and the reasons why. Was he ill from his last post here in 2012 to his death( no date given)? It isn't even clear when his death was. The link provided gives a statement from a Derrick Story in Sept 2016 that he had recently learnt of his death but no mention of when his death was. One of life's ironies that the announcement of his death comes from someone who is from the Digitalstory.

He died sometime in the second half of 2016 (like so many others that year it seems) a day before his fiftieth birthday.
He must have been quite ill since 2012. Why else would he stop all activity so abruptly?

Scott did indeed have health problems and was unable to finish several of his last interviews including one with myself and Bob Shanebrook. He sent me raw recordings of at least one of his podcasts but I have not looked them up in a few years. He also had a problem in that some of his advertisers did not pay him and thus he was usually short of hard earned money.

He had a lot of side projects and did a lot of good work for analog. I knew he was quite ill but did not know of his passing until this post. I did try to contact him several times, and he called me a few times, but then just vanished. I was unable to get more information. He is missed.

I was so shocked to hear of his passing and am very sorry to have lost him at such a young age. I was so shocked, I left the page here before I could add this sentiment, so that I could let Bob Shanebrook know as well.

Have you tried pressing play on any of those?
I'm pretty sure they where on his own paid server and of course that is down now. But maybe this is a regional thing?

It all sounds as if he were a one man band, even to the extent that others close to him were either unaware of his business/hobby or just saw no reason to make an announcement of his death and demise of his podcast to what is a large analogue photographic community. The thing that stands out for me is that several years ago and more years ago than I would have estimated based on what I now know to be his last post's date here, is a thread on film( end of/ in jeopardy?) in which his contribution to the debate was to emphasise in capital letters, normally regarded as the equivalent of shouting, that the solution was simply to buy more film.

When the last person on earth who had direct contact with one who is deceased then dies and the period for this is usually very short in generational terms then all real trace of that person's existence vanishes.

A sobering thought

One of my best friends would not answer repeated messages. Messages by phone and mail. He died in 2009 and I knew nothing about it. I found details from his brother who was also a friend and not for 2 years as his brother did not contact me. Another good friend was in contact and died suddenly. I was messaged by his wife. No information at all.

At times like this, I have to believe that things are difficult for all concerned and I make allowances.

My last contact with Scott was a phone call in which he apologized for taking so long to edit the last "episode". His girl friend had a flat in LA and he drove from Carson City to LA to help her out. At the time, his mobility was limited due to the effects of a high dose of Gabapentin (look it up) for diabetic pain and he had trouble getting around. I'm not surprised that he did not contact me in spite of my efforts to go the other way. He was a good person who worked up to the end, as far as he was able, to support Analog.

Wow, this is really a shock. I am so sorry to hear of Scott's passing, and my deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. I loved those episodes, and tried very hard to locate them a couple years ago, even reaching out to Scott on several social media platforms.

If anyone has any info about where the podcasts can be found, please chime in. I think it would be a great honour to Scott's legacy to have them available online as they previously were. I know that I for one would be willing to contribute some money for hosting the files.

Our best chance is someone who have saved the programs on an old computer HDD or iPod.
Or better yet, that someone finds a way to contact his family or close ones, and indicated the strong desire in the community for the podcasts.
Let's hope they had enough sympathy with his oeuvre to save the discs, and that they are readable now.

They still linked to his private server. They were never on iTunes as such.

And, although I know I have them, I still cannot find them. I think that they are on a very old computer that once failed. I'll keep looking.
